Oxford Farmers’ Market presents Louise Spicer and Sarah Williams on piano Saturday
OXFORD —Two local, talented pianists—Louise Spicer and Sarah Williams—will perform a wide range of music in the LaFayette Park bandstand, during the Oxford Farmers’ Market on Saturday, August 8th. The program begins at 10 am. It is free and open to the public.
Louise Spicer entertained shoppers last season with a diverse program from classical music to nostalgic pieces from the 1930s and 40s. In her return engagement this year, Spicer will focus on twentieth-century music, playing everything from a ragtime number like Joplin’s Elite Syncopations, show tunes such as When I Fall In Love, to popular music from the 1920s to the 70s with name-that-tune favorites like Happy Days Are Here Again and The Summer Knows.
To bring us into this decade, Sarah Williams, a high school senior and up-and-coming talent, will offer a program of modern pop and movie music. She will play piano arrangements of pieces such as The Climb, music from the blockbuster movie Pirates of the Carribean, and compositions by Grammy-winner Bruno Mars.
Enjoy the music while stocking up your kitchen with freshly picked produce and berry fruit; just-baked bread, pies, cakes, and cookies; local honey and maple syrup; organic dairy products; farm-fresh eggs; free-range chicken; and locally crafted items.
