Chenango SPCA helps pet owners at the height flea season

NORWICH – With flea and tick season in full swing, the Chenango SPCA is reminding pet owners to heed the signs of fleas and ticks on their pets.
The Chenango SPCA is reaching out to pet owners by offering topical flea protection at reduced rates to qualified community members. Topical flea preventative for up to two pets is available to county residents who are receiving public assistance.
The American Veterinary Medical Association warns that fleas aren’t just a nuisance, but carry disease that pose risks to both animals and humans, including Lyme disease, rocky mountain spotted fever, and plague. The Chenango SPCA reminds pet owners that such diseases are transmittable from animals to humans.
