Same date, new time for the Talent Competition at the Chenango County Fair
NORWICH – The Chenango County Fair will once again play host to its annual Talent Competition.
The event will take place in the entertainment tent on Saturday August 15, 2015 at noon. The time of the event has changed since being listed in previous ads.
“We originally had the event scheduled for 1:00 p.m. but due to some conflicts in scheduling we all decided to bump up the time to 12:00 p.m.,” said Terri Jackson spokesperson for the Talent Competition.
The event will feature two divisions in the competition, a Mini Contest for the 12 and under division and the Talent Hunt made up of the 13 and over division.
There will be four categories for each of these two divisions, as well as prizes for first, second, and third place. The categories for each age division are: Vocal, Instrumental, Variety, and Dance, as well as a Best of Show award for the overall competition.
Last year’s Talent Competition saw Amy Branham of Oxford in the 13 and over division win awards for the Variety category as well as the best of show award, as she was playing guitar while also singing. “Amy has talked about coming back this year for the talent show but hasn’t registered yet, a lot of people register late, right before the competition, so there is still time,” said Jackson.
Last year’s talent Competition also saw first place awards go to Dazontee Low in the 13 and over Dance category, and Bradley Engels in the 13 and over Vocals category.
Second place finisher in the 12 and under Vocals category was Luis Rivas. Notably, Rivas is already registered for this year’s talent competition on Saturday.
In addition to monetary prizes that are available for the place winners, the performers will also have the opportunity to qualify for the New York State Fair Talent Showcase where there will be ribbons presented as well as prizes totaling $3,000 which will be awarded.
The event and everyone involved welcomes anyone, of any age, who may have a special talent to come out and sign up for the event. Registration for the event is only $5 per entry and can happen no later than 11:30 a.m. on the Saturday of the event. To enter the competition you can simply check out the Chenango County Fair Website at: chenangocountyfair.homestead.com or contact Terri Jackson by email at: TerriJackson15@gmail.com or by phone at: 336-3711.
“I’m just really excited to see all the different talents this year. We already have a comedian, musician, many singers and even a magician. With lots of variety in age as well as our youngest to enter so far is 7-years-old and our oldest is I believe 75-years old,” said Jackson.
Directly following the completion of the Talent Competition, Kaitlyn Jackson & Hometown will be playing from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the entertainment tent as well. After originally being scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. they were also bumped up to avoid scheduling conflicts. Check an updated schedule for further time changes to events.
