Sherburne Fire Department receives $41,000 federal grant

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne Fire Department will be able to upgrade some of its outdated equipment thanks to a recently awarded $41,000 federal grant.

The department received grant funds by way of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, a federal program designed to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations.

The department will use the grant to offset costs of a new air compressor used to fill breathing apparatuses for firefighters. The new compressor purifies air and builds pressures to 6,000 psi, and will replace the department’s current 20-year-old compressor.
