Car vs. pedestrian on Friday leaves one man dead

NORWICH – A motor vehicle accident occurred in the late hours of Sept. 11, 2015 resulting in one casualty, a pedestrian.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. last Friday, members of the New York State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on State Route 12 in the Town of Norwich.
It was determined upon investigating the scene, that 77-year-old Robert M. Gibbs had exited his residence and entered the roadway.
Per a release from the State Police, once Gibbs entered the roadway, he was in the path of a vehicle traveling northbound on the highway.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was not ticketed, yet authorities said the investigation is continuing.
