On a wire: Robert Rogers to perform at Oxford Memorial Library
OXFORD – Everyone faces challenges in their life as they grow up, even Hercules, son of the mighty Zeus.
On Thursday, Oct. 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Castle Creek based Robert Rogers Puppet Company will visit the Oxford Memorial Library for its monthly Family Night to share the intriguing story of young Hercules who – while very strong – faced the same problems and challenges that all other children face.
Like most children, young Hercules must deal with everything from just trying to fit in with the other kids, to living up to his father’s high expectations.
Robert Rogers has been a puppeteer for more than 30 years, “inspiring creativity in children and helping them develop a better understanding of the world around them.”
Raised near New York City, Rogers was frequently exposed to the theatre and performing arts from a young age thanks to his parents. Experiencing the Bil Baird Marionette Theater in Greenwich Village as a child was inspiring enough for Rogers to commit to a life of puppeteering.
