S-E soccer splits games in Sauquiot tournament

Sherburne-Earlville

SAUQUIOT - This weekend the Sherburne-Earlville boys soccer team competed in the Sauquiot soccer tournament. In the first round on Friday, October 9, S-E would play against Adirondack and lost 4-1.
Adirondack got out to an early lead off of goals from Dawson Green and Gavin Miriam and an own goal from the S-E defense. As a result of a little confusion in front of the S-E net, the ball was directed into the S-E goal, giving Adriondack a score.
S-E’s lone goal came off of a Kyle Cole shot. Cole received a cross from Tyler Rodriguez who then redirected the ball into the Adriondack net for a goal.
S-E played their next game on Saturday, October 10, in the consolation game against Herkimer.

In the consolation game against Herkimer, S-E would find its grove and win 7-4.
The first half S-E would score five of their seven goals and allow none. Tyler Rodriguez would score three over the course of the game, earning a hat trick.
In the second half S-E would get into a bit of trouble as Herkimer scored four goals in the last 20 minutes. Herkimer’s Joe Vincent, Ben Migilare, and Nick Boem all scored in the second haf to try and even up the score. S-E’s defense proved to be too much for the Magicians and the Marauders would hold on to win the game 7-4.
After the conclusion of the game, two S-E players were named to the all-tourmament team for their outstanding play. Both Tyler Rodriguez and Cole Olsen were recognized for their play over the course of the weekend.

Bainbridge-Guilford/Greene

BAINBRIGE - On Friday, October 9, the Bainbridge-Guilford boys soccer team hosted Greene in a match that the Trojans would dominate and win 7-0.
In the first half Greene scored six of their seven goals. Brian Leone lead the Trojans on Friday by scoring four of the team’s seven goals. Also scoring for Greene were Spenser Klumpp, who had two goals, and Luke Day, registering just one goal.
The second half proved to be much better for B-G, only letting up one goal and giving the game its final score of 7-0. The Bobcats goal keeper Sean Jones did his part in keeping the ball out of his team’s net, earning 14 saves on the day.

Unadilla Valley/Afton-Harpursville

AFTON - Hosting UV on Friday, October 9, the Afton-Harpursville boys soccer team would lose 4-2.
In the first half of the game UV would score twice while Afton-Harpursville would only score just once. The lone goal in the first half for A-H would come from Mirco Geopfort. Geopfort would register one more goal the rest of the game for a total of two.
The second half would go almost the same as the first half, with UV scoring twice and A-H scoring just once. Scoring for The Storm were Derrick Schwab with two goals, Kalvin Abrams with one, and Than Geary with one goal. UV’s offense went on to earn 14 shots over the course of the game, five more than Afton-Harpursville’s nine.

Norwich

NORWICH - On Saturday, October 11, the Norwich girls varsity soccer team hosted Chenango Valley and won in a thrilling overtime game.
After a scoreless first half, both teams were scrambling to score in the last 40 minutes of the game. It was Chenango Valley who struck first, scoirng with just six minutes left. With time running out and just under a minte to go, Norwich’s Savannah Williams found Michaela Fazio for the score to tie it up and go into overtime.
The Williams-Fazio connection would be the formula for an overtime victory as Williams found Fazio for another pass and goal for the game winner.

CHENANGO VALLEY - On Friday, October 9, the Norwich varsity boys soccer team traveled to Chenango Valley to take on the Warriors and would ultimately lose 3-1.
Norwich's lone goal came from Brendan Brush. Brush would take a pass and sneak a shot past the CV goal keeper and in for the score.
Caleb Hertzog got it done for Chenango Valley, scoring all three goals and recording a hat trick. Hertzog lead the Warriors' offense that would register 26 shots over the course of the game.
