High speed chase spans 3 counties, suspect may be in custody
NORWICH– Late Friday night on Oct. 9, 2015 New York State Police pursued a stolen Hummer in a high-speed chase that began in Oneida County, went through Norwich on Route 12, and ultimately ended in Broome County.
A detective with the Broome County Sheriff's Office told The Evening Sun that one individual matching the description of man involved in the high-speed chase was taken into custody later that night with regard to an unrelated incident. The identity of the man could not be confirmed.
According to New York State Police, a red Hummer was stolen in the City of Utica. The suspect fled the scene, and local sheriff's deputies followed.
Due to the subject’s erratic and aggressive driving, multiple attempts to pull the vehicle over failed.
After this lengthy pursuit of the vehicle down Route 12, law enforcement deployed spike strips near the intersection of Castle Creek Road and Route 11 in Broome County, which blew the two front tires of the car.
