Fright all night: Rogers Haunted Hill is back this weekend

PLYMOUTH – The spirit of Halloween will be on full display this weekend for those daring enough to be led into the dark woods of the Plymouth hills by complete strangers.
This Friday and Saturday night beginning at 7 p.m. - or whenever the trees of Rogers Haunted Hill cloak themselves with their night attire – hundreds of Chenango County's bravest souls will make their way through the narrow, twisting paths of the much anticipated attraction.
“There's something new to see every year, and this year we decided to take it into the woods to enhance the creepy atmosphere,” said Beverly Rogers, matriarch of the operation. When asked what folks could expect, Rogers simply replied, “You'll have to come see for yourself – if you dare.”
What started out as one family’s way of offering the children of Plymouth and surrounding Chenango County an affordable, safe and fun Halloween activity that could be enjoyed by the entire family has now become a Chenango County tradition.
And with an admission price of just $7 a head – when other similar attractions are easily charging $30 or more – the family-run Haunted Hill remains affordable, which was the point all along, according to Rogers.
In addition, children five and under are allowed free admission; but organizers ask guests to not bring infants.
“Families in Chenango County cannot afford to spend $100 on one night of entertainment, and we wanted to offer something that any family could justify paying for,” said Rogers.
Another bonus: that $7 admission fee is all-inclusive. Patrons won't find themselves digging deeper into those wallets for “additional attractions,” a common practice with other larger seasonal attractions.
“We don't make a profit. That's not why we're here,” said Rogers. “We're volunteer run, so every penny we make goes directly back into the operation to make changes or repairs for the next season.”
Those returning to the Hill know the drill, but newcomers should prepare themselves to park free on the side of the road and follow the signs to their doom.
This year's action at Rodger's Haunted Hill is located at the usual location: 312 Hopkins-Crandall Road just off County Road 16 in Plymouth both Friday and Saturday. First fright is at 7 p.m., and screams continue all night.
