New York State honors Chase Health employee with prestigious award
NEW BERLIN – On Wednesday Oct. 21, 2015, Chase Health Rehabilitation and Residential Care in New Berlin held an hour-long event to honor Carolyn Carney, a member of their staff.
Jeni Demarais, Administrator and CEO of Chase Health, orchestrated the hour-long event, which started at 11:30 a.m. and went until 12:30 p.m., with food and drinks for all to enjoy.
The staff members assembled residents of Chase Health in the main reception area for the award ceremony.
Once all had arrived, Demarais introduced Kristen Myers, Vice President of Member Services and Marketing at LeadingAge New York.
“It is truly an honor for me to be here today to present Carolyn Carney with the 2015 LeadingAge New York Long Term care Employee of Distinction award,” said Myers.
Myers then gave a brief explanation of what LeadingAge New York is why they recognize individuals for their outstanding work.
LeadingAge is an association of 5,600 not-for-profit organizations of not-for-profit and government-run senior living and services providers from all across the state of New York dedicated to advocacy, education, technical support, policy analysis and data analysis. LeadingAge New York strives to help members such as Chase Health meet the current challenges in aging services while positioning themselves for future success.
This most recent award marked Carneys second she has received. Her first coming in 2012, when she was awarded peer recognition award in Binghamton
“The Employee of Distinction program recognizes the extraordinary efforts of front line staff, such as physical therapists, RN’s, LPN’s, CAN’s, home care aides, personal care aides, food service, dietary, housekeeping, transportation and many others who are the face of New York’s not-for-profit nursing homes, senior housing, adult care facilities, and other senior living and services providers. Of the thousands upon thousands of employees in LeadingAge New York’s member organizations, only 18 are chosen for this prestigious award each year,”
Myers continued on addressing Carney specifically stating, “Carolyn Carney is honored today for her dependability, reliability, confidence, and integrity. She is an outstanding team player, treating her coworkers with the utmost respect, and she is always willing to pitch in. She listens with ease to patients, families, and coworkers, alike, with a brilliant and shining smile on her face. She makes herself available and present for residents and families during times of need, and makes people feel welcome and comfortable during times of transition. In fact, she makes a point to make each person feel special and meet their needs when she is able. Simply, she goes above and beyond expectations. It is my pleasure to congratulate Carolyn Carney as a LeadingAge New York Long Term Care Employee of Distinction award winner for 2015.”
After concluding her brief speech, Myers presented Carney with the award and $100 check.
Joseph Angelino, former Norwich Police Chief, was present at the event on behalf of Assemblyman, Clifford W. Crouch, along with Catherine Moshier, who was present on behalf of New York State Senator James L. Seward.
Moshier presented Carney with a Legislative Resolution on behalf of Senator Seward.
“Carolyn Carney has been honored before, I have done my research on her, and I am very impressed,” said Angelino.
Carney shared her thoughts after she was given the award saying, “without the CNA’s and all the staff here I wouldn’t be where I am today, thank you.”
There were two other staff members of Chase Health present, who had both previously been recognized for the award, Annette MacLeod and Mary LouWintoin.
