Greene football rolls over Sidney 51-6

GREENE - On a night where Greene honored its seniors, the Trojans took on the Sidney Warriors and defeated them 51-6.
To start off the game Sidney received the opening kick off and was immediately stuffed by a strong Trojans defense. The Warriors went three and out to punt the ball to Greene’s offense which totaled 513 yards and 51 points in the rout of their opponents. Greene made quick work on the Sidney defense and capped off big yardage runs by Joe Miranda and Coy Austin for a touchdown just two minutes into the game. It was Austin who scored the first TD for Greene off of a 23 yard run, giving the home team a seven point lead.
The next series was much of the same for the two teams, with Sidney being stuffed at the line of scrimmage and Greene making short work of the Sidney defense. The Trojans would score again on a 45 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zach Orzell to Lucian Austin. After a successful extra point attempt, Greene was now up 14-0.
Sidney struggled to move the ball all game long as Greene played tough, swarming defense. The next score of the game came with 2:24 left in the first quarter from a 15 yard run from Joe Miranda. Miranda took the hand off and bounded into the end zone for Greene’s third score of the night. With the two point conversion good, Greene was now up 22-0 on Sidney going into the second quarter.
It was business as usual for Greene in the second quarter, stuffing Sidney on defense and scoring almost at will on offense. Their next score came with 10:36 left in the half on a nine yard run from Luke Erickson. After the two point conversion was successful, Greene was now up 30-0 on the Warriors.
The half’s final score came on a five yard run from Orzell to put his team up 37-0 going into the half.
In the third quarter Greene only scored once off of a three yard run from Erickson. Erickson ended the game with 206 yards and two touchdowns. This was Erickson’s second 200 yard game in a row and he is now over 1200 yards for the season and is just over 100 yards away from breaking Curtis Schear’s school record.
The fourth quarter saw the Greene’s final points scored on a 21 yard rush from Greene’s Nate Erickson to give his team their final total of 51. Sidney found the end zone late in the fourth quarter as well off of a 25 yard run from Zach Green. After an unsuccessful two point conversion the game had its final score of 51-6 in favor of Greene.
Greene will play its final game of the season on Thursday, October 29 when they host Marcellus.
