Report of possible stabbing in Preston leads to three arrests
PRESTON – On Oct. 22, 2015, at about 10:49 a.m., following a 911 call that came in that morning, New York State Troopers responded to a report about two men fighting in a car, possibly with a knife, on Turner Street in the Town of Preston.
While arriving on scene, troopers found the three suspects were separated and no one was injured.
After assessing the scene and performing an investigation, the New York State Troopers determined that Todd E. Hamilton, 30, of Unadilla, was driving a vehicle while Jodi E. Babcock, 33, of Sidney, and Nathan A. Diamond, 35, of Unadilla, were the passengers.
Allegedly, while driving, Hamilton was in a verbal argument with the front seat passenger who was identified as Diamond. Hamilton then allegedly tried to stab Diamond with a knife. As the two struggled, Hamilton stopped the car and Babcock made the 911 call.
The New York State Police arrested all three of the above-mentioned suspects on various charges.
Todd E. Hamilton was arrested for menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.
Nathan A. Diamond was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.
Jodi E. Babcock was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.
During the investigation the suspects were allegedly found to be in possession of about three grams of heroin.
All three suspects were arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court and remanded to the Chenango County jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 property bond.
All three are to return to the Town of Preston court on Oct. 27, 2015.
