Monday Evening Music Club puts on free-will donation concert tonight
NORWICH – The Monday Evening Music Club will take the stage at the United Church of Christ in Norwich tonight for a free-will donation performance open to the public.
Showtime starts at 7:30 p.m. at the UCC Church on W. Main St. in Norwich. Although there’s no charge for admission, the Music Club seeks donations to continue its scholarship program which awards area students with a scholarship to further their study of music at a college of their choosing.
The Monday Evening Music Club is comprised of area music teachers and other club members ranging in age and experience who all share a love for music. Each year, the non-profit organization puts on several free programs from September through June.
In 1909, the Monday Evening Music Club began offering scholarships to wrothy students who were interested in pursuing music as a career. At the end of each year, the winner of the scholarship is asked to perform in a recital.
