Sherburne-Earlville Drama Club presents its annual drama club production

SHERBURNE – Autumn is here and it’s almost that time again for the Sherburne-Earlville Drama Club's annual fall production.
“Life in the Theater: an Evening of One Act Plays,” will be presented on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7, 2015. The show features 9 short, one-act plays, both comedic and dramatic.
Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door at the S-E High School auditorium.
Each year the opportunity is open for experienced students to direct a one act for the production. This year six students took on this challenge: Kierra Fairbanks, Molly Karaman, Dalton Peek, Shayla Sullivan, Vinny Taylor and Alex Tefft.
Each of the above mentioned students were responsible for choosing their one-act play, help run the auditions, and then were part of the casting decision process. They were each also responsible for making decisions on lighting, sound cues, costumes, props and set.
Director, Colleen Law-Tefft mentors them throughout the process.
“The main purpose of allowing students to direct is for them to gain experience and learn a better appreciation for what goes into the directing process,” said Law-Tefft.
Students are also encouraged to write their own plays.
One student, Alex Tefft, took on that task this year, writing a play called “Traffic Jam”, a comedic take on the meaning of the fourth wall. In theater terms the fourth wall is the conceptual barrier between any fictional work and its viewers or readers. Bringing an original piece to the stage can sometimes require adjustments and changes to the script.
The evening includes both comedic and dramatic plays and gives many students excellent acting opportunities. The one-act plays in the fall are a good way to break in new participants and serve as a training ground for future performances.
This production has 30 students on stage including: Kaylee Boise, Tessa Boise, Olivia Clark, Olivia Dunham, Jordan Eddy, Colleen Eggers, Kierra Fairbanks, Ethan French, Garrison French, Sierra Gold, Kaylee Griffin, Patric Harder, Taylor Homann, Jared Jillson, Dalton Jones, Molly Karaman, James Moren, Marie Moren, Molly Osborne, Dalton Peek, Lizzie Pierce, Molly Pierce, Adaline Roth, Angel Sheely, Julian Sofranko, Shayla Sullivan, Vinny Taylor, Alex Tefft, Laura Tenny and Marianne Tenney.
Everyone is invited to come support the Sherburne-Earlville Drama Club and enjoy this event.
