Windsor Sports Programs Director accused of stealing more than $18,000

WINDSOR – Robert E. Crowley, 57, of Windsor, current director of the Windsor sports programs, was arrested by the New York State Police at Binghamton on Nov. 5, 2015.
Crowley was charged with two counts of grand larceny in the third degree, both class D felonies.
This arrest was a result of an investigation that began on Oct. 19, 2015, when it was reported that money was missing from the bank accounts of the Windsor youth sports programs.
“With his job description, he had direct access to all the accounts. Unsure who at this time, but someone in the department must have been the one who notified the authorities once they noticed the money missing,” said NYSP Public Information Officer Nathan Riegal.
An investigation determined that allegedly over $18,000 had been stolen by Crowley who is the current director of the program.
Crowley was arraigned in the Town of Windsor Court and was released without bail required.
The investigation is still ongoing.
As of yesterday, Nov. 10, Riegal stated, “No additional charges yet that I am aware of.”
