Teaching that violence is not the answer
NORWICH – In the Norwich Family YMCA preschool, students are learning about how to use their words in school to solve their problems, rather than resorting to violence. With the nationwide and global happenings as of late, teachers thought this was a great time to talk about it with their students.
“With all that is going on in the world today, it is important to teach our children early that violence is not the answer and we should use our words to talk about our problems and differences,” said preschool teacher Kaitlin Korver. “When problems arise in our classroom, we always encourage our students to use nice words to find their solutions. Although these problems are minimal to those in the world today, it is important that we instill this idea of using words and nonviolence to solve our differences.”
