NORWICH - As winter sports are now in full swing it is once again time to determine The Evening Sun’s Athlete of the Week.

After a fantastic week of sports, one athlete stood out among many bright spots. Norwich wrestler Eli Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, only an eight grader, and has been wrestling on the varsity squad for the past two years. Last week Rodriguez won his second consecutive Clyde Cole Tournament title, this year at the 99 pound weight class. He cruised through the competition without giving up a single point and was awarded the Director’s Award at the conclusion of the tournament. The award was given to the champion with the most pins and least points scored against throughout the tournament.
