Christmas at the Palette event set for Saturday
NORWICH – In celebration of the upcoming holiday season, The Artists’ Palette has joined forces with organizations throughout greater Norwich to offer the community a fun-filled day for families.
The third annual “Christmas at the Palette” will be held this Saturday, Dec.12 from 9 a.m. though 4 p.m. at the Artists Palette located on South Broad street in downtown Norwich.
Initially dubbed The Community of Arts Festival three years ago, event organizer and proprietor of the Artists' Palette Jill Kraft says she has “been trying to put a holiday themed event together for several years and this year the holiday event has received a makeover.”
“I was contacted by the Place who is doing ornament making with Bonnie Gale and they wanted to utilize my space to open the event up to the public,” said Kraft “After some careful thought and much collaboration, we all decided to go ahead and add in more components and make it an all-day affair”
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with instructor Debbie Bittenbender who will be making holiday wreaths.
While the event is open to the general public, wreath building program is available to a limited number of participants and by registration only. A fee of $35 is required to secure a spot, and anyone interested should call Debbie at 437-7497 to sign up.
“The price for the wreath crafting instruction is an absolute value,” said Kraft. “One can utilize Debbie's technique year after year and save hundreds by creating your own unique and personalized work of art every holiday season.”
In addition, there the Artists' Palette will also offer a special “Twisted Bristles” canvas painting instruction event between 10 a.m. and noon.
An essential oils representative who will be providing information about essential oil products.
Beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting throughout the afternoon, Kraft indicates that there will be a number of vendors set up in the store selling a variety of different direct sale and handmade goods.
From 1– 4 p.m., renowned artist Bonnie Gale will be making ornaments, and cookie decorating at the Palette Café - located within the Artists Palette – will be in full swing thought the day as well.
This event is open to the public but people are encouraged to register so there will be enough supplies on hand.
To round out the senses, members of the Norwich Theater Company will make a guest appearance, providing music for the afternoon, filling the downtown arts emporium with the sounds of the season. And at 2 p.m., Kraft has confirmed a special visit from St. Nicholas himself.
Christmas at the Palette is open to both children and adults alike, and those interested should contact Marjorie Grap at the Place by calling 336-9696; or for more information call The Artists’ Palette at 244-1445.
