Bernstein breaks Section 4 Indoor Track record

Norwich


ITHACA - The Norwich indoor track team traveled to Ithaca on Saturday, December 12, to compete in the Ithaca Bomber Invite.

After a great day of competition, four Norwich athletes stood above the rest. Norwich’s David Bernstein placed first in the weight throw with a toss of 57’10’’. Bernstein’s throw broke his own school record and the Section 4 record and qualified him for the Indoor Track National Meet.

Bernstein also competed in the shot put and threw a 48’8.5’’, breaking his own school record and placing third.

Also competing were Ben Ericksen who placed seventh in the 3200 meters with a 10:28, Kaitlyn Shaver, who placed third in the shot put with a 34’3’’ throw, and Emily Shattuck who placed ninth in the 55 meter dash with a 7.73.


Basketball


Bainbridge-Guilford/Unadilla Valley


SHERBURNE - Competing in the Sherburne-Earlville tournament, the Bainbridge-Guilford girls’ varsity basketball team and Unadilla Valley competed this weekend.

The two teams met on the second day of the tournament with B-G coming out the victor after an impressive showing.

Things were close after the first quarter of play, with B-G up 13-10 on UV early. B-G’s Abigail Selfridge got things going for the Bobcats as she scored seven of her 23 points in the first quarter.

As the game went on things only got better for B-G and by the time the second quarter was over they had increased their lead to 28-19.
