Hawkeyes hold off the Marauders

COOPERSTOWN – Coming off an impressive 3 to 0 win over Westmoreland this past Monday, Sherburne-Earlville suffered a 3-0 loss of their own at the hands of Cooperstown.

The first two sets in the match proved to be decently close for The Marauder’s only losing 25 to 17 and 25 to 20 respectively.

“We came out firing and had some untimely errors in the first two matches,” said Sherburne Head Coach Ed Holmquist.

To stay in the match and avoid the shut out, S-E needed to win the third set, something that proved slightly too much for the girls, as they dropped the third set to 25 to 10.

“Proud of the way they played especially against a quality team like Cooperstown,” said Holmquist, “we ran outta steam at the end.”
