Oxford wrestling falls to Walton-Delhi
OXFORD – Oxford played host to a duel meet against Walton-Delhi last night, Jan. 13. They lost the meet on a score of 56-30, mainly due to the fact that they had to forfeit four matches. This latest loss plunges the Blackhawks record to 7-11 while the Warriors improve to 7-2.
The meet began with a forfeit win for Brenden Cairns of W-D at 170-pound weight class. After a forfeit and a pin for Oxford’s Dakota Freidel put them on the board, W-D dominated the rest of the meet.
The Warriors had three successive pins, at 99, 106 and 113-weight classes, to put them up 30-18. Oxford’s Brenden Gager got some points back for the Blackhawks with a pin after 2 minutes and 37 seconds against W-D’s Austin Merwin at the 120-pound weight class.

The Blackhawks will be hoping to reverse their fortunes when they travel to Cazenovia for the Cazenovia invitational next Saturday, Jan. 16.
