Greene girls power their way to another W

UNATEGO - The Trojans girls varsity basketball team powered their way past Unatego on Thursday evening in a 45-28 win. The Greene girls are now 11-4 on the season, 8-1 in conference play.
The Trojans got over a slow start where they scored only 13 points total in the first half with strong defensive play in the second. Freshman McKenna Sergi played her part by coming up with five steals that would lead to five Greene buckets, three of which she scored herself. Sergi would lead the Trojans in scoring with 12 points.
Greene was also aided by a heavy paint-presence in Senior Katie Carey and 8th grader Emma Smith. Carey pulled down 12 rebounds for the Trojans, and Smith rejected four shots in the contest. Smith was also the game’s second leading scorer with 10 points.
The Trojans are off until next Friday when they will travel to Unadilla Valley to take on the Storm in a conference game. The matchup could have important postseason implications for Greene, who is currently tied for first place in the MAC.
