Norwich Swimmers suffer narrow defeat to Greene
NORWICH – The Norwich men’s varsity swimming team closed out their STAC dual meet schedule with a loss at home to the Greene Trojans last Friday night, Jan. 22.
On the night, the Tornado honored four Seniors; Ethan Lestico, Conner Supensky, Bruce Winter and Dan Zieno. All four continued to enhance their high reputation as leaders of the team. Winter, Supensky and Zieno all had three wins each, while Lestico also came away with a win in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Out of the 12 events, Norwich won seven, but still lost the meet on a very tight margin of just four points. Despite the loss, the Tornado swimmers were able to record three personal bests.
Head coach Kevin Diefenbacher said that his team is now focused on the upcoming Sectional Tournament in February and that his team is continuing to train hard.
Next Friday night marks the last meet of the season for the Tornado swimmers, when they will travel to Holland Patent, a Section 3 team. The meet is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
