Black Knights down the Trojans
WINDSOR – The Greene varsity wrestling team took to the road to take on the Windsor Black Knights on Tuesday evening.
Despite winning more head-to-head match-ups the Trojans would fall to the Black Knights 38-28.
With a depleted roster for the 2015-2016 season, as forfeits played a huge role in the Tuesday night loss. Greene has seen some individual success but team victories have been hard to come by as the Trojans are now resting at 1-11 for the year.
The wrestling meet began at the 99-pound weight class but would not see an actual match happen until the 120-pound slot, however, by that time due to three forfeits Windsor was already up 18-0.
The Windsor wrestlers at 120, and 126-pounds would go on to win their match-ups over Logan and Noah Kennedy of Greene.
The Trojans first saw light when 132-pound Harrison Stone cruised to a major decision victory for Greene over his opponent Dillon Morgan, winning 11-3.
Following Stone’s win, Greene would win the next three out of four matches, all coming by way of pins. In the end the forfeits, and depleted roster for the Trojans proved too much for them to overcome as a team, despite a night of tough wrestling.
Greene will host Unadilla Valley later on tonight at Greene at 6 p.m., for what will be their final home match as well as scheduled duel meet for the 2015-2016 season.
