Trojans win on senior night

GREENE – Senior night, Jan. 28, for the Greene Trojans saw them square off against fellow Chenango County team, Unadilla Valley, Greene would win 33-18.

Prior to the beginning of the match, the Greene wrestling team chose to do more than just honor their seniors on senior night, but rather to honor each wrestler and their families. Each wrestler was escorted by a date, and made their way around the mat to meet their parents. The seniors recognized were: Tyler Unkle, Gavin Palmer, Ryan Castle, Nate banks, Joe Phillips, and Braxton Howell.

The evening would only see three actual match-ups due to depleted rosters for both Greene and UV.

The night would start at 120-pounds where Greene’s Logan Kennedy would defeat UV’s Morgan Lakin with a 6-2 match. Lakin did attempt a late headlock in the third in search of a pin but was unable to secure the move, giving up the takedown to Kennedy instead.

At 126-pounds Unadilla Valley would finally get on the board. UV’s Caleb Simons would dominate the match from the start, earning the pin-fall quickly at just 1:03 into the first period over Greene’s Noah Kennedy.
