Marauders earn a piece of league title with win over Golden Knights

SHERBURNE-EARLVILLE – The Lady Marauders took charge in Friday night’s Playing for a Cure, Breast Cancer awareness game, sending Holland Patent home with a loss, winning 46-43.
There was a free will donation at the game; all proceeds went to Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of Central New York.
Staying on top nearly the entire game showing influential ball handling skills, adept passing, and committed shooting, the lady Marauders ultimately began their weekend with a win.
Holland-Patent came on strong in the third quarter with a six nothing stent and two smooth foul shots from number 10, Ally Livesey, tying up the game going into the fourth quarter.
Despite back-to-back 3-pointers from number 14, Shannon Harrison and number 3 McKenna Williams the Holland patent girls could not hold back the S-E Marauders for very long.
After sitting out due to her fourth foul Lilly Berg, number 31 of S-E came back in to the game on fire with seven straight points putting the marauders back on top. With under a minute left in the game Miranda Wright made 2 free throws followed by Savannah Irwin with 2 more putting S-E up 46 to Holland Patent’s 43 to secure the win.
S-E currently shares the league title with Holland Patent, both with two losses on the season. With a win a hopeful win over Canastota this coming Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, S-E can lay sole claim to the SCS-1 league title.
