Meth manufacturer sentenced, other arraigned

NORWICH – Two individuals appeared in Chenango County Court, both who are accused of meth-related crimes.
Michael A. Pierce, 28, of Plymouth appeared with his attorney Robert Gouldin for purposes of plea and sentence.
Previously it was made known that Pierce was found and subsequently arrested in the parking lot of a North Norwich business, when he was found to be manufacturing methamphetamine in his vehicle parked in the parking lot.
Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. presided over the matter and First Assistant District Attorney Michael D. Ferrarese was resent on behalf of the public.
Pierce and Gouldin did both signify that they were ready to change their plea and enter a not guilty plea on the matter.
Revoir read into the record the indictment, “on May 14, 2015 in a parking lot of a local business in the Town of Norwich you did knowingly and unlawfully manufacture methamphetamine.”
Pierce did enter a plea of guilty to the top charge of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony.
Ferrarese was given a chance to speak, “you were charging people money to show them how to make meth, you were the go to guy in our county. What you did is horrific, I hope you take the time to think about the irresponsible acts you committed and will be able to live a law abiding life, good luck.”
Pierce chose not to give a statement on his behalf.
“I remanded you, you failed to show up to appointments with Everard, and you tested positive for narcotics. I encourage you to get involved with programs in state prison and not just bide your time there,” said Revoir.
Pierce was sentenced to two years in state prison followed by one and a half years post release supervision.
All fines, fees, and surcharges were waived due to indigency.
A written waiver of appeal was signed on this matter
• John W. Quinn Sr., 53, of Sherburne was in Chenango County Court this past Monday, Feb. 8 for arraignment purposes with his attorney Scott Clippinger.
Quinn was previously arrested on Oct. 3, 2015, by Chenango County Sheriff’s deputies following an illegal dumping complaint in the Town of Sherburne.
Quinn was arrested for unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory, a class E felony; and criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine, a class E felony.
Upon arrival, deputies said they observed a common item used to manufacture methamphetamine, a one-pot method bottle in the garbage bag.
Quinn was processed and arraigned in the Town of Sherburne Court, and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Following a 45-day time lapse, Quinn was released from the custody of the CCSO.
Quinn was in court to answer to these charges.
Clippinger entered not guilty pleas to all charges and waived a reading of the indictment.
After filing his affidavit of service and notice of intent, Ferrarese stated, “I have looked at his criminal history and it is significant out of state, specifically with a couple felonies in Florida. That leads me to believe he may still have contacts in Florida, so to ensure he reappears in the future we ask for $3,000 cash bail of $20,000 bond.”
Clippinger alleged that per his client being released from the CCSO after 45-days and appearing in court that bail should not be set on this matter.
“He is here today, he lives with his wife in Sherburne, and he has no money,” said Clippinger.
Revoir chose to set bail at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond, Quinn was remanded to the CCCF.
Quinn spoke before being handcuffed and remanded, attempting to plead his case, “I am 53-years old I have no time to dodge the law. I make $854 a month, to come u with $2,500 is not going to happen.”
Quinn chose to not engage in the pre-plea investigation at this time.
