CAC, Wilson Ceramics to host Spring Ceramics Workshops

NORWICH – The Chenango Arts Council, in conjunction with Wilson Ceramics, are pleased to offer 2016’s Spring Ceramics.
On Sundays from 6–8 p.m. (Feb. 21 and 28, and March 6 and 13), Instructor Matthew Wilson will be leading the Hand Building and Throwing Pottery workshop at the Arts Council.
The workshop is an adult beginner to intermediate course designed to teach a variety of clay processes. Matthew Wilson, current Norwich Middle School art teacher and former adjunct professor of ceramics at SUNY Oswego, will share his knowledge and years of experience while guiding beginners through basic elements and beyond.
An introduction and portfolio of the instructor’s works can be viewed at his website, WilsonCeramics.com.
The four-week course explores the processes of hand-building and wheel throwing in addition to a variety of techniques that concentrate on the functional side of clay.
Come join the experience of clay and create works of art for the home and friends.
For participants seeking to hone their pottery skills, a series of one-on-one wheel throwing lessons with Wilson have been made available at an additional rate.
Those interested in being a part of the program are urged to pre-register with the Arts Council by Feb. 17 by calling 336-2787(ARTS) or by visiting ChenangoArts.org.
A $60 registration fee includes workshop access and instruction, tools, clay, glaze, and firing.
Classes are held in the CAC’s art classroom at 27 W. Main St., Norwich.
