Authorities: Man had meth & materials to make meth in his vehicle
EARLVILLE – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested one individual on Feb. 19, 2016 after an investigation led to the discovery of methamphetamine.
Jason L. Wheeler, a New York State parolee, was stopped by Deputy O’Hara along with K9 Jeroen of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office while both were working a drug interdiction detail in the area.
According to authorities, the original stop of the vehicle was conducted due to Wheeler talking on his cell phone.
However, after the initial stop, an investigation of the vehicle revealed several items used to manufacture methamphetamine as well as the finished product of methamphetamine.
Along with the tickets of aggravated unlicensed operation and talking on the cell phone, Wheeler was later charged with unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine, a class E felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Wheeler was arraigned in the Village of Earlville Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.

Authorities said the they are waiting for the lab to weigh the meth and do not have an official amount at this time.
