DCMO BOCES to hold ‘Business Breakfast’
NORWICH – Connecting career and technical education to employers’ needs will be the focus of the 2016 Consultant Committee Breakfast to be held at DCMO BOCES this month.
Business owners, industry, and community leaders are welcome to attend and discuss opportunities to enhance students’ work preparedness. This event will be held at the Chenango Campus on March 30; and at the Harrold Campus on March 31.
This brief program will include an update on new initiatives that prepare students to enter careers in business and administration, as well as opportunities for consultants to engage with educators’ efforts.
Classroom tour opportunities will follow, allowing consultants to observe hands-on education and lecture sessions.
“This event provides an opportunity for business professionals to visit the campus and learn about the many ways we can impact education as a team,” said Lee Shaver, Director of Career and Technical Education at DCMO BOCES.
Shaver also expressed her goal of recruiting business and industry leaders to join the DCMO BOCES Consultant’s Committee. “The feedback we obtain from employers has a powerful impact on what we teach. We need to customize the learning experience to fit the job. The strongest Career and Technical Education programs in the country have active advisory groups. It is time to do the same in our region,” she said.
Culinary Arts students will be preparing delicious breakfast treats for the event which begins at 7:30 a.m. Tours start at 9 a.m. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online at www.learnatboces.com. For more information, call event coordinator Martha Ryan at 607-335-1292.
