Changes in Artistic Discovery keeps young art local
NORWICH – Unlike previous years, students participating in the annual Artistic Discovery competition no longer send artwork directly to Congressman Richard Hanna’s offices in Binghamton and Utica.
As a result of this change, the Chenango Arts Council is encouraging Chenango County students to continue to enter their work in its long-standing local show, open to the public.
Chenango County school district art teachers agreed, and have filled the Arts Council gallery with the works of their talented students from all participating districts in the county.
As in the past, awards for 1st, 2nd and honorable mention will be given in the categories mixed media, painting and drawing, and three-dimensional art.
In addition, the Lucy Funke Awards to graduating high school seniors will be presented at 6 p.m.
Please join the Chenango Arts Council for the opening reception on Friday, March 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries located within the Arts Council at 27 W. Main St., Norwich.
The reception is free and open to the public, and the Chenango Student Art Competition awards will be presented at 6:15 p.m.
