Unadilla Valley looks for everything to fall into place in 2016

UNADILLA VALLEY – Unadilla Valley saw sub par season come their way in 2015, after posting a varsity baseball record of only 4-11.
However, head coach Jason Miller sees good things for his team in the near future.
“Last year the team was 4-11, hopefully we can improve significantly,” said Miller. “Last year was tough, because they didn’t have the pitching depth to get them through playing five straight days of baseball. This happened a couple time last season due to weather.”
Rain or shine, The Storm will hopefully be taking the field, opening the season away at Walton on April 5.
“We open up our season over in Walton, who is always tough. Our plan for that game, and every game, is to play the game one pitch at a time,” said Miller.
UV will be relying on their leaders on their team to help push the team to a hopeful successful season. Uv will look to seniors and captain Nick Stirone and Mason Fernette to get this job done.
“We have a very young team, but we have Jake Grant and Drake Winnicki returning from injury,” said Miller. “Payton Stirone, Teddy Postma, Adam Lamont and Andrew Jackson are going to be key contributors to our program this season, and in the seasons to come.”
Miller did however, express his concern about losing their starting catcher, Jared White, to injury.
Our goal is to play fundamentally solid baseball, especially defensively. If we couple our solid defense with quality at bats, then we will find success. But ultimately, we want to play the game properly,” said Miller. “We have a young team, and have been working hard on physical, technical and mental skills. I'm confident this team will execute well and in turn will effect some good successes this season. We also have a good group of players in the modified pipeline, so our program is looking good this season, and future seasons.”
