Cooperstown superintendent killed in ATV accident

COOPERSTOWN (AP) - The superintendent of the Cooperstown Central School District has died in an ATV accident.
State police say 51-year-old C.J. Hebert was riding near his Richmondville home Sunday when the ATV flipped back on top of him.
Troopers say Hebert was reported missing late Sunday by his wife. His body was found early Monday in a heavily wooded area in Schoharie County about a half mile from Hebert’s home.
Troopers say Hebert apparently was riding near former railroad beds and was killed trying to drive up an embankment.
Classes at Cooperstown Central School were canceled Monday, with crisis counseling available for staff and students. There was to be an informal vigil for Hebert at the high school bus circle at 5 p.m. Monday.
