Hydrant flushings planned throughout Norwich
NORWICH – During the weeks of April 5 through May 13, water system personnel will be flushing all fire hydrants in the water system. This procedure allows the water system to flush the water mains and simultaneously the hydrants are checked for damage, leakage, flow and operation. The water system will also be conducting hydrant flow testing at the same time.
Flushing hours of operation will be 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
• Days 1, 2 and 3 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 5, 6 and 7): Area from Rexford Street west to Silver Street north on Borden Ave. to Rt. 12, and north on Rt. 12 to Rt. 320
• Days 4, 5 and 6 (Friday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8, 12 and 3): Area from Rt. 12 and Sunset Drive to Calvery Drive, Cole Drive south to Cortland Street, and from North Broad Street to Plymouth Street
• Days 7, 8 and 9 (Thursday, Friday and Tuesday, April 14, 15 and 19): Area from East Main Street to Hale Street east of Birdsall Street, and East Main Street to Hale Street west of Birdsall Street.
• Days 10, 11 and 12 (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 20, 21 and 22): Area from Cortland Street south to West Main Street west of North Broad Street
• Days 13, 14 and 15 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 26, 27 and 28): Area from West Main Street south to Chenango Ave. west of South Broad Street, and from Hale Street south to Rt. 12 Bridge east of South Broad Street
• Days 16, 17 and 18 (Friday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 29, May 3 and 4): Area from South Broad Street bridge south to Unison, and to complete remainder of hydrants in the system.
• Days 19, 20 and 21 (Thursday, Friday and Tuesday, May 5, 6 and 10): Rt. 23 hydrants from the lower reservoir to the Albert A. Sullivan Filter plant
Customers experiencing Cloudy water should run a cold water faucet to waste until the flow clears.
