Lady Trojans rolling over the competition early

OXFORD – The lady Trojans stole the show once again, this time from the hosting Oxford Blackhawks, winning 19-12.

Even though the lady Trojans seemed to be hitting well at the plate, securing the win on 19 earned runs, Greene Coach Rick Condon held himself and his team to a higher standard when it came to the fielding issues Greene endured.

“We let the game slip away from us at one point, we had to refocus,” said Condon. “We came out and were up strong 11-2 at one time, then we gave up four runs. I don’t know if they got overconfident of just lost focus, but they are much better players than surrendering those runs.”

As Condon attested, Oxford did manage a small rally in the top of the fourth inning to draw the game to 11-6.

“I think we overcompensated, it was the girls first look at that pitcher, she throws hard. The girls made the adjustments when they needed to, but they had fallen so far mentally out of the game, but we corrected that and it worked out in the end,” said Condon.
