Norwich topples the Indians earns the win
NORWICH – The Norwich varsity softball team righted some wrongs with a 6-3 win over visiting Owego.
It didn’t take Norwich very long at all to jump up on the scoreboard, as Kassidy Seary hit a nice double to center field in the bottom of the first inning, allowing her teammates Shannon Moore and Shelby Benjamin to make it home.
It was Seary who closed out the first inning with a run herself, after Kate Dowdall smacked the ball to right field.
The score then remained the same until the top of the third when Owego would jump on the board scoring three of their own, knotting the game at 3-3.
It was Jordan Sanford , on her 18th birthday, who broke the tie in the bottom of the third and got the ball rolling once again for Norwich when she nailed a home run to left field, claiming the run and rounding the bases to pull Norwich ahead 4-3.
