Sidney edges Blackhawks

SIDNEY – At a team score of 4-1, Sidney defended their home court from the visiting Oxford Blackhawks, on April 19.
The lone win on the evening for Oxford came from Francisco Quintana who defeated Riley MacPherson in two sets at 6-4, and 6-1.
Following Quintana’s individual win it was all Sidney as his fellow teammates battled but were unable to claim any wins. Micha Bowie of Sidney would edge out Josh Nelson, beating him 6-4 and 6-2.
While Trenton Stillman of Sidney defeated Gavin Wheatley 6-0 and 6-1 in the finals singles set.
The doubles proved somewhat more competitive when Sean Germond and Trevor Dutton of Sidney defeated Jason Davis and Fletcher Nisbet. However this match needed extra innings after splitting wins at 7-5 in favor of Sidney and 6-7 in favor of Oxford. The final tie-breaking set did go to Sidney at 7-5
The final doubles match of the due from Sidney, Connor Gregory and Lucas Tanner took on and eventually defeated Alyssa Hadge and Natalie Barrows of Oxford in just two sets at 6-1 and 6-2.
Oxford is now 2-2 on the season.
