Statement win for Tornado Tennis

NORWICH – After defeating the Windsor Black Knights 5-2 as a team last Thursday, April 21, Norwich has kept themselves just one game out of the division lead behind Oneonta.

“This was a big match for us tonight. If you look at our scores they were pretty decisive. We lost at first singles playing a very skilled player and   doubles in a third set tie breaker,” said Norwich head coach John Stewart.

Joel Fazio now remains unbeaten on the season when he cruised past his competition at fourth singles, winning 6-1, and 7-5.

Norwich Senior Carlos Ithier came up with a huge for the Tornado this past Thursday defeating Aaron Williams.

Williams found himself up early on Ithier, but due to patients and being persistent, Ithier walked away on top.

“The Carlos match, that kid was the better tennis player. He had set point on Carlos, had him down 6-5. Carlos flipped him and scored next three to make 8-5, then next set he humiliated won 6-0,” said Stewart.

Stewart continued saying, “Norwich got solid play from two and three doubles with both teams coming from behind to win both matches.”
