Oxford Softball drops a game to powerhouse Afton
OXFORD – Oxford came into the Friday evening matchup running off a full weeks worth of games, only to be faced up against juggernaut Afton, Afton earned the win 28-1.
Afton would capitalize early on the Blackhawks earning five runs in the first inning, followed by a nine-point inning in the second.
Oxford did answer in the second inning, with their lone run on the evening. It was Layla Kriz who hit a ground ball to first base, which allowed Raigen Ehly to score on the play.
Pitching for Afton and securing the win was Amanda Greenwood and Tracy Hatton; Greenwood secured five strikeouts in her three innings to go with Hatton's two strikeouts in two innings.
Afton would go on to score an additional seven runs in the third, one run in the fourth and closed out the five-inning game with scoring six additional runs.
