UNADILLA – It was a day to forget for the Unadilla Valley varsity softball team, as they suffered a trouncing at the hands of Sidney, losing 25-0.
Errors were the Storm’s downfall. They only allowed nine hits in the game, but committed 10 errors. Sidney capitalized, and stormed out to an 11 run lead after just the first inning. They continued their hot streak right until the final inning, cruising to a comfortable 25 run triumph.
The pitching duo of Connor Decker and Mackenzie Constable was also key to the Warriors victory, with Decker striking out an amazing 13 batters. The two also combined to allow just one hit the entire game. Best in the win for Sidney were Connor Decker, who went two for three at the plate, with a double, four RBI’s and a walk, and Taylor Barnes, who was two for four on the day, driving in two runs and earning a walk. Abbie Oglesby grabbed the only hit of the day for the Storm.
The UV ladies will be hoping they can put in a better showing on both ends of the field when they host Hancock next Wednesday, May 4.
