Errors contribute to two SE softball losses

SHERBURNE-EARLVILLE – The Lady Marauders hosted Adirondack on May 9., ultimately falling victim to their bats, losing 18-5.
Adirondack cruised to an easy lead over SE, when their bats connected early on, taking the lead over SE 5-0 in just the first inning.
Pitching for Adirondack was Marisa McIntyre who struck out 10 batters in her five and a third innings pitched.
For SE, Crystal Beckwith stood on the mound for the entire seven innings, earning two strikeouts.
Adirondack would soar to tremendous 19-hits on the night as they simply out-slugged SE's two hits at the plate. The nine errors on SE's side would help contribute to the scoreline.
Heading into the sixth inning and already down 14-0, SE showed some heart as their never-quit attitude shined through. SE racked up a solid inning in the sixth inning, scoring four runs, and also tagging on an additional run in the seventh.
SE batters: Miranda Wright 1-2 with a run and three RBI's, Lizzy Bachman 0-2 with an RBI, Sierra Barker 0-2 with a run, Alexis Kane 1-3 with a run, Mattie Gunther 0-2 with a run, Savannah Irwin 0-3 with a run and an RBI. Wright would secure a home run on the night.

LITTLE FALLS – SE softball would then travel to Little Falls in a game they were looking for improvement in, ultimately losing 9-1.
SE would perform better in the field with two less errors this time around, only committing seven in the contest. However, competing with a team like Little Falls, that committed no errors, staying pace in the scorebook seemed to be an uphill battle for SE.
Crystal Beckwith pitched for SE once again, only surrendering two earned runs to go with her three strikeouts.
Little Falls pitcher, Claire Connolly managed five strikeouts and only one walk in the first four innings of play.
Little Falls would take the slight lead early on with two runs scored in the first inning and an additional run coming their way in the third.
It was however, the fourth inning that spelled doom for The Lady Marauders, as Little Falls racked up the points in a six run inning. SE would take on a late point to avoid the shutout in the with sixth inning off of Taylor Hallberg's lone RBI to send Savannah Irwin home for the score.
SE batters: Emily Stanton 1-2, Sierra Barker 1-2, Taylor Hallberg 1-4 with an RBI, and Savannah Irwin 2-4 with a run scored.
Up next for SE softball (1-11) they will be celebrating cancer awareness on their senior night game at home, starting at 4:30 p.m., May 12.
