Oxford invites entrpreneurs to ‘Ask the Experts’

OXFORD – Business-minded individuals just may find a recipe for success during a Q and A event slated for Monday at the Oxford High School.
The “Ask the Experts” event, presented by the Innovative Community Collaborative of Greater Chenango County, seeks to answer the question: What does it take for a business to succeed?
Anyone considering the possibility of a business – or has already started one – is invited to ask a panel of local experts in accounting, law, insurance, and banking for advice that will help their business thrive. Panelists will discuss the things that they say can make or break any business.
The event will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 16 at the Oxford Academy High School Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
Anyone interested in attending and has a question is encouraged to submit their questions ahead of time. Questions can be emailed to Martha Ryan at ryanm@dcmoboces.com.
The four panelists on hand include: Roy Fuller, CPA and Executive Vice President of Piaker and Lyons; Norene Palmer, Partner at Lee, Emerson and Palmer, LLP; Dennis Mirabito, Insurance Consultant for NBT-Mang Insurance Agency; and Pegi LoPresti, Branch Manager of the Norwich NBT Bank.
Roy Fuller is a graduate of LeMoyne College with a NYS certification in public accounting. His specializations include taxation, income tax planning, estate planning, tax research, and tax audits. He also handles not-for-profit taxation, accounting, and auditing related matters.
Norene Palmer joined her law firm in 2014 after eight years of working as a paralegal. Palmer is currently a member of the Chenango County Bar Association, the NYS Bar Association, and also works with the Norwich Rotary and the Chenango County Blues Fest Committee. She focuses her talents on the areas of real estate, estate planning, estate administration, business entities, and landlord/tenant issues.
Dennis Mirabito is a 33-year veteran of the insurance industry. As an insurance broker specializing in business and personal protection, Mirabito represents insurance products which include property, casualty, life, health, and long-term care. He is the recipient of the 2010 Travelers National Agent of the Year Award and stays involved with several professional councils and industry-related organizations.
Pegi LoPresti is a graduate of Morrisville State College with an established background in business, public relations, and marketing. LoPresti is a former Executive Director of the Norwich Business Improvement District and, given her experience with working with small businesses, is a valuable source for promotional strategies for small rural communities.
Monday’s event is the latest in a series of events hosted by the Innovative Community Collaborative of Greater Chenango County. Each event centers on the promotion of growing entrepreneurism and outside-the-box thinking in throughout the area.
