Physical dispute leads to couple’s arrest for DWI

GREENE – The New York State Police at Norwich recently arrested two individuals from South Otselic, on May 7, 2016.
Michael L. Hall, 36, of South Otselic was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with allegedly a blood alcohol content level of .08 percent, assault in the second degree, and several other traffic violations.
Hall's girlfriend, Ashlee D. Simms, 25, also of South Otselic was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content level of allegedly .11 percent, as well as other traffic violations.
Hall and Simms were arrested after troopers responded to a report of a woman yelling for help on South Chenango Street extension in the Town of Greene.
An investigation performed by the responding troopers allegedly determined that while driving in an intoxicated Simms had been in a physical dispute with her boyfriend, Hall, who was a passenger in her vehicle.
According to a news release from the New York State Police, after allegedly being assaulted, Simms stopped and ran for help. Hall allegedly then got into the driver’s seat and attempted to drive away but ultimately backed the vehicle into a ditch before fleeing the scene on foot.
Hall was located a short time later and subsequently arrested.
Hall was arraigned in the Town of Coventry Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250 cash bail or $500 property bond at that time.
Simms was also arraigned in the Town of Coventry Court and was released without bail required.
There next court date scheduled was in the Town of Greene court on May 12, 2016.
As of May 19, 2016 neither Hall or Simms are currently incarcerated at the CCCF.
