Standing on the far right next to the podium is Ethan Eldred of Sherburne-Earlville. Eldred earned a fifth place finish in the eighth grade race.

ROSENDALE – The Chenango Composite competitive mountain biking team took to the trails once again on May 15, for their third race of the season, at Williams Lake in Rosendale, New York.
“A great weekend of team Chenango Composite High/Middle School Mountain Bike racing,” said coach Rob Baker.
Currently the team – which generally consists of 12-Chenango county bikers – is ranked fifteenth in the league out of 22 teams. This impressive ranking comes at the expense of the team still having no female riders, a requirement for overall scoring.
In the eighth grade section of the race saw Ethan Eldred claim a fifth place spot and a chance to stand on the podium. While Norwich's Noah Bufalini would follow up Eldred with a sixth place finish. Eldred posted a time of 34:42.83, while Bufalini came in at the time of 35:45.34.
“His (Eldred's) first but not last podium trip, congrats also go out to Noah Bufalini” said Baker. “Going five and six in our third team outing in the eighth grade race was impressive, especially for the technical and rocky 6.5 mile course they had to ride.”
Baker pointed out that despite only two of the five bikers that made the trip earning finishing place, all five finished and performed extremely well.
Noah Marvin, of Norwich, raced in the sophomore category, Stanton Baker, of Norwich raced in the freshman category, and Scott Lord of Greene raced in the junior varsity category.
Stanton Baker has now moved himself up to the rank of eleventh out of 35 riders in the freshman category. In his race, Lord came through the finish line at 1:27:35.80.
Each Baker, Marvin, and Lord raced on a 12.75 mile course.
Lord's time was reported at 1:27:35.80, finishing him in sixteenth
The next race for The Chenango Composite team is scheduled for June 5, in Round Top, New York at Riedlbauer’s Resort.
“This is a classic East Coast trail that will reward those who have built their technical skills over the season. A course worthy of a NICA New York championship,” said Baker.
