164 years of service recognized in Firemen’s Parade

NORWICH - Tuesday night’s Chenango County Firemen’s Parade saw two very distinguished former Norwich Fire Department Chief Officers in attendance courtesy of the Maydole Hose Company.

Former fire Chiefs Bob Handy and Jim Williams’ appearance was applauded throughout the parade as members of the community recognized two department icons once again dressed in uniform.

Upon entering the judging area in front of the grandstand, former Chief Handy and former Chief Williams were recognized alongside current Assistant Chief Patrick Ford for their devotion and commitment to the Maydole Hose Company and City of Norwich Fire Department. Former Chief Handy’s 60 years of service, former Chief Williams’ 57 years of service, and Assistant Chief Ford’s 47 years of service combine for a total of 164 years.
