Showcase your talent this Saturday at the Chenango County Fair
NORWICH - Do you have the X Factor? If so, the Chenango County Fair Talent Showcase is the place for you.
The fair will hold its annual talent competition at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 13. Performers of all ages are welcome to compete for prizes in two age groups. The Mini contest consists of performers ages 12 and under, while the Talent Hunt contest consists of performers ages 13 and up. There is no age limit to compete in the Talent Hunt contest.
There will be monetary prizes for first, second, and third place in each of the following categories: vocal, instrumental, variety, and dance, as well as “Best of Show.”
Chenango County Fair monetary prizes are as follows for each category: first place, $30; second place, $25; third place, $15; and best of show, $35.
In addition to these monetary prizes, performers have the opportunity to qualify for the New York State Fair Talent Showcase, where ribbons and monetary prizes totaling $3,000 are awarded.
Terri Jackson, who is the coordinator of the talent show, said, “Over the years, the Chenango County Fair Talent Show has featured some amazing local talent. Spectators are entertained by a variety of acts, ranging from singing, instrumentalists, dancers, comedians, and magicians. The show has also been a great platform for participants to get experience performing on stage. Many even qualify for and go on to compete at the New York State Fair's Talent Showcase.”

There is a $5 entry fee per act. Contestants may enter right up until 12:30 p.m. on the day of the competition. However, if contestants pre-register, they will obtain free entry to the fair on competition day.
After the talent show concludes, Kaitlyn Jackson and Hometown will be performing from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. that night.
