ADA: 'What this defendant did is a despicable act'

NORWICH – A Bainbridge man was convicted of committing a criminal sexual act in the third degree, a class D felony, and will be spending the next three years in State Prison.

The sentencing of Christopher A. Jennings, 33, of Bainbridge, took place when the Chenango County Court convened for a morning session on Friday, Aug. 19.

It was alleged that on or about March 14, 2015, at a West Main Street residence in the Village of Bainbridge, Jennings did engage in manual sexual conduct, oral sexual conduct and sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old victim.

On March 18, 2015, Jennings was indicted on the charges of rape in the first degree, a class B felony; criminal sexual act in the first degree, a class B felony; incest in the first degree, a class B felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

In an agreed upon disposition with the Chenango County District Attorney's Office, Jennings previously elected to enter a plea of guilty to the class D felony of criminal sexual act in the third degree, in satisfaction of all the charges. Jennings reappeared in court on Friday for sentencing purposes.
