One stroke win for The Sabers over The Tornado

CONKLIN – The budding stars that comprise the Norwich varsity golf team faced a stiff challenge on August 30, when they lost by one stroke to The Sabers of Susquehanna Valley.
Norwich traveled south on Route-12 to take on Susquehanna Valley on their home course of The Conklin Players Club. The course that was played held a par 36, a low score that two Norwich players met. Despite the two phenomenal outings from Norwich, Sus. Valley would still secure the narrow team win by one stroke over Norwich, at 208 to 209.
Sus. Valley would see their low team score and medalist spot at 37 go to Trevor Jones. Jones was followed by his teammates Jordan Wheeler at 38, Sam Chapman at 40, Carter Gray at 46, Guiseppe Giamarrino at 47, and Josh Shore at 48.
Norwich would have a tie for their team and match low score of 36. It was Ryan Johnson and Nate Scheer who came up big for The Tornado. Johnson and Scheer were followed in the Norwich scoring by Alex Gage at 44, Connor Nial at 46, A.J. Little at 47, and Griffin Clipston at 51.
Norwich (1-1 non-league,0-0 league) won't see live action again until next Wednesday, September 6., when Norwich will host Windsor at The Canasawacta Country Club at 4 p.m.
