Porter brace gives B-G boys bright start to season

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford boy's soccer team got their season off to the perfect start last Tuesday, Aug. 30, with a 4-0 win against fellow Chenango County rival Unadilla Valley.
The Bobcats, who finished with a .500 record last season, were looking to kick off the new season with a victory, and they did just that. Ryan Porter got B-G out to an early lead in the first half, and it remained that way until the halfway mark.
In the second half, it was all B-G. The offense was firing on all cylinders, and they added three more goals to their tally. A goal a piece from Cody Ferrara, Aidan Nolan and another from Porter sealed the win for the Bobcats.
“I think we wore them down with our numbers,” said Bobcats head coach Peter Feltham after his team's opening win. “We played solid defense.”
B-G dominated the shot column, notching 14 shots on target, as opposed to their opponents, who had just four shots trouble the keeper.
After getting both their division and MAC league records to 1-0, the Bobcats will next face off against a formidable foe in Milford Academy. That game is slated for Thursday, Sept. 1, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
