Yellowjackets drop the Tornado at home

NORWICH – The rainy Thursday evening of Sept. 8, saw the Oneonta Yellowjackets varsity boys soccer team do some swatting of their own when they traveled over the hill to play Norwich, winning 5-0.
The scores were early and often for Oneonta, as they would enter into the halftime break with a 5-0 lead. Norwich would however stiffen up on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field to effectively hold Oneonta in the second half of play.
It was Jack Mazerolle who got the ball rolling in favor of the Yellowjackets as he scored the first two goals in the game. Mazerolle was followed by Alex Brannan who netted the third goal, before the fourth and fifth were tacked on to end the first half by Numfor Tiapoa and Eamon Geraghty.
Oneonta would see a high offensive attack in the game serving up 17 shots on goal –five scoring – while Norwich's Keegan Prime would work his stellar play between the posts with seven saves in the first half and five in the second.
Norwich would lack on the offensive end as they could only muster a four shot game in their efforts.
Norwich will travel to Susquehanna Valley to play them next on their schedule for 2016, on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 4:30 p.m.
